Low pressure method for synthetic melamine powder:

 

After the fertilizer grade urea is melted in the storage tank, it is sprayed into the reactor through multiple nozzles.

 

Using fluidized alumina as a catalyst, circulating ammonia preheated to 400C is introduced into the reactor to maintain fluidization. The reaction pressure is atmospheric pressure or slightly higher than atmospheric pressure.

 

This reaction absorbs heat. Install heating coils inside the reactor, using molten salt as the heating medium, and maintain a reaction temperature of around 380℃.

 

The injected urea undergoes evaporation reaction to produce melamine, carbon dioxide, and ammonia, with a conversion rate of 95%. The reaction gas comes out from the top of the reactor and first enters the gas cooler.

 

The temperature after cooling is higher than the dew point of melamine. At this temperature, high boiling point by-products such as melamine and melamine crystallize and precipitate, and the catalyst powder is removed through a filter.

 

The filtered gas enters the sublimator, where the temperature is maintained between 170℃ and 200 ℃. The circulating gas is cooled to 140℃, and 98% of melamine precipitates in the form of granular crystals, while unconverted urea remains in the gas.

 

Melamine crystals and gas are separated using a cyclone separator, with a product purity of up to 99.9% and a separation efficiency of 99%.

The circulating gas from the cyclone separator enters the urea scrubber and is cooled to 140℃.

 

The unrecovered solid and gaseous melamine and unconverted urea in the circulating gas are washed and recovered in the urea scrubber.

Part of the gas generated by the scrubber serves as the medium for the sublimator, with a portion being pressurized and preheated before being circulated to the reactor, while the other portion can be returned to the urea plant.
