The industrial production of N-isopropyl-N'-phenyl-1,4-phenylenediamine (IPPD / Antioxidant 4010NA) mainly adopts the catalytic reductive alkylation of 4-aminodiphenylamine (RT Base) with acetone.Using 4-aminodiphenylamine and acetone as raw materials, the condensation hydrogenation reaction is carried out in an autoclave at 160–165 °C under a hydrogen pressure of 5–6 MPa with a copper-chromium catalyst.The reaction proceeds in two steps: raw materials first undergo dehydration condensation to form an imine intermediate, which is then reduced to the target product under hydrogen and the catalyst. The reaction is highly efficient and selective.

II. Post-Treatment and Purification Process

 

 

After completion of the reaction, the catalyst is separated by hot filtration. The filtrate is frozen at low temperature to crystallize the crude product, which is further filtered, washed, and vacuum-dried to obtain a high-purity finished product.Unreacted raw materials and isopropanol byproduct in the mother liquor are recovered by vacuum distillation and recycled, significantly reducing raw material consumption and waste liquid discharge.Typical unit raw material consumption: 4-aminodiphenylamine 875 kg/t, acetone 420 kg/t.
