Pure silicone oil is generally colorless (or light yellow), tasteless, non-toxic and nonvolatile liquid. Silicone oil is insoluble in water, methanol, ethylene glycol and 2-ethoxyethanol. It is miscible with benzene, dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone, carbon tetrachloride or kerosene, and slightly soluble in acetone, dioxane, ethanol and butanol. It has very low vapor pressure, high flash point and ignition point, and low freezing point. With the different number of chain segments n, the molecular weight increases, and the viscosity also increases. This silicone oil can have various viscosities, from 0.65 centistokes to millions of centistokes. Manufacturing Information

 

There are two main methods for preparing silicone oil: hydrolysis condensation method and siloxane catalytic equilibrium method.

Method 1: Hydrolysis condensation method

Alcoholysis: Add 100 parts by weight of organic silicon high boiling material to the reaction kettle at 20 ℃ -25 ℃, and then drip 30-40 parts by weight of raw material methanol with a weight percentage of 80% -90%. Add the mixture dropwise for 6-8 hours, starting at a rate of 3 parts per hour, and gradually increasing to 10 parts per hour after 2-3 hours. The hydrogen chloride gas generated during the alcoholysis process is absorbed by spraying water.
Neutralization: At room temperature, add 15-18 parts by weight of methanol cosolvent and an equal amount of urea to the above material. The neutralization temperature is 42 ℃ -50 ℃, and the neutralization time is 0.5 hours to neutralize hydrochloric acid in the material. By layering, crude high boiling silicone oil was obtained, pH=4-5, Then add 1.0-1.5 parts by weight of 27% ammonia water and continue to neutralize to pH 6-8.
Filtering: Filter the neutralized material to obtain the finished silicone oil.

Method 2: Siloxane Catalytic Equilibrium Method

Ingredients: Add methylchlorosilane and hexamethyldisiloxane (MM) to the reaction vessel, with a mass ratio of 1: (1-2).
Reaction: Under stirring, slowly add concentrated sulfuric acid, then slowly add water, control the dripping speed of water, and allow the reaction to proceed at a certain temperature. After the reaction is complete, let the reactants stand and separate into layers, and wash the separated upper product with water until neutral.
Distillation: The pure silicone oil after washing with water is subjected to vacuum distillation, and the fractions within a certain temperature range are collected to obtain hydrogen containing silicone oil.
